The President's Speech, 22nd Company Anniversary
11 July, 2011 TNKC House
MY FELLOW VERITAS GENTLEMEN AND LADIES:
Happy 22nd Anniversary to our Beloved Company- VERITAS MARITIME CORPORATION
The video and the song “We’re All In This Together” say it all.
Indeed it is time for celebration. It is time to reminisce the past. It is time to look back and recall the hardships and the difficulties that we encountered and overcame. It is time to review our twenty-two years journey and what made it worthwhile for us to deserve the rewards of the success story of VERITAS. As the song rightly and aptly says, together we did our work right and had fun doing it.
TOGETHER, we made each other strong. We are not together in Veritas by accident but because by God’s plan, together is where we belong. Vangie, Naty, Boy, Michael, Beth Manano, Beth Domingo, Anthony Latay to name some of our long-serving staff, together with our many loyal seamen that include 32 Masters, 31 Chief Engineers who have stayed with Veritas for more than 10 years, they all have one thing in common. They have found home and family in Veritas. I will bet my last peso that all of them would want to retire in Veritas. I hope they will serve as inspiration and as role models to our younger staff and to the new generation of seafarers joining our fleets.
Each one of our staff and each one of our seafarer is special in their own way. We acknowledge that each one is not the same and we recognize their differences. But unity and oneness in purpose, in vision and in our dreams make us stronger. My late father and former Veritas Chairman (Ponciano C. Marquez) had 3 arrows in his desk to constantly remind all of us that a single arrow will be easy to break but 3 arrows together will be unbreakable. As we work towards our silver and golden years, let us continue to stand and work hand in hand. Let us be a star in our own respective way and let us continue to pursue our dreams without limits.
Finally, it is time once again to be thankful and grateful to our Good Lord for our twenty-two successful years of operations. A text message I received said that good things come when one is patient, and is persistent in trying. Better things come to those who are patient and persistent at the same tine believe and pray and seek Divine Grace for all that they desire. This is the reason for Veritas’ success. It will continue to be the reason why Veritas will be blessed in the future.
To all our staff ---
I say, thank you for a job well done. Please remember that “Well done “ is much better that “Well said”.
Celebrating its 22nd Anniversary on July 11, 2011, VERITAS MARITIME CORPORATION has much to be thankful for. Its vessel roster has reached an all-time high while looking forward to many more vessels in the coming years. It has
continued to expand its organization to meet the demands of its growing vessel fleets. It has improved its performance year after year. At 22, Veritas approaches full maturity as an organization while aiming for greater successes.
Veritas is thankful that it has surpassed the economic crisis of 2008 to 2010 which beset the whole world. That crisis caused the slow down of many business directly hitting the shipping industry which transports raw materials and finished goods. Veritas was hard hit too, in consequence. But we have weathered those hard times. The vessel lay-ups are past us now. The longer vacations of crew are a thing of the past. There is employment, more opportunities for promotions, and better benefits for all.
Our officers and crew has assumed great heights too, in terms of superior onboard performance. They can say proudly that “Taga-Veritas Ako” which translates to being a high-calibre professsional, quick and sharp, diligent and reliable, and decidedly loyal to the Company.
Our office staff can also boast that “Taga-Veritas Ako”. They are extremely dedicated and hard-working, resourceful and highly devoted to the Company. Proof are the staff who are celebrating together with the Company their 20th year, namely Mr. Melanio “Boy” Punzalan, and Mrs. Fortunata “Naty” Pinez and 15th year for Mr. Gilbert Manaloto. There is Ms Vangie who has been with Veritas and Mr. Eric Marquez since its beginning.
VERITAS leaders not only work for its own organization and people but shares the lead in moving the manning industry forward. Whether in the forefront or as prime mover and advocate, our Mr. Eric Marquez continues to work hard for the Filipino seafarer.
VERITAS’ journey has a long, long way to go. Veritas is getting stronger for future challenges and is reaching higher for greater heights. Let us hold firm to each other, hand-in-hand, crew and office employees and management together and look forward to our JOURNEY ahead. With God’s grace, we will continue to travel the paths and sea lanes to success.
Thank you to the Officers and Crew,
Thank you to the Officers and staff, and
Thank you, great Lord for the blessed 22 years.
